Description: This is an exceptionally well preserved
original condition vintage race vehicle. It had a completed documented
frame up rebuild from 1990 – 1994 by Jon Waterhouse, Albany, NY. The car
was originally purchased and constructed by Bob Pagan, Long Island, NY
in 1972 and raced in SCCA Regional events until 1980. This FF was not
raced from 1980 until 1994 after Waterhouse’s restoration. The #46 Caldwell
was the featured FF at the July 1994 Lime Rock 25th Formula Ford Reunion
finishing 3rd in class. This chassis has a total of 33 races logged since
built in 1972 and has only 12 races since the original restoration in
1994. There have been various updates to this Caldwell since my purchase
in 2002 such as; Tilton Starter, 32/36 DGV Weber, OMP Fire System, Sabelt
Belts, Autometer Electronic Gauges. All upgrades/improvements were professional
performed.
History: This car was originally purchased and built
by Bob Pagan and raced in SCCA events by various other owners until late
1980. A completed pictorial documentation was preserved by Mr. Pagan during
his ownership. Jon Waterhouse, also provided a complete pictorial of his
pain staking 4 years restoration. This car has competed in SCCA, SVRA,
HSR and VDCA events since 2002 under the #46 with 5 class victories.
The D9 Caldwell FF Marque won the 1969 SCCA runoffs driven by Skip Barber.
The same year, Jim Clarke won the Inaugural IMSA Formula Ford race at
Pocono International in a Caldwell D9.
